Yogi Berra Museum Named NJ’s Best Designed: Architectural Digest

The namesake museum of baseball legend and former Essex County resident Yogi Berra recently earned some kudos of its own when Architectural Digest named the facility as the “Best Designed” in New Jersey for 2018.

The Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center thanked the publication for the nomination, which honors “stunning designs meant to entice patrons into its doors.” Read the full article here.

Architectural Digest wrote:

“Tucked onto the Montclair State University campus, Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center honors the late New York Yankees player. IKON 5 Architects designed the museum, which opened in 2010.”

The museum provided the following blurb about its history:

“The House that Yogi Built on the campus of Montclair State University first opened to children of all ages in 1998 – the same year the Hall of Fame catcher received an honorary doctoral degree from the school. A redesign of the structure by IKON 5 Architects was unveiled in 2011. New exhibits and artifacts have been incorporated into the design since, including a digital, interactive indoor baseball experience, PITCH!, which opened in June of this year, attracting a whole new generation to Yogi’s great legacy and our nation’s past time.”
