Where is the coronavirus in N.J.? Latest map, update on county-by-county cases. (March 27, 2020) – NJ.com

New Jersey announced roughly 1,900 new positive coronavirus cases Friday, bringing the state total to 8,825 cases. It was also the largest single-day increase in deaths with 27 patients who passed away. That brings the total deaths to 108.

“We mourn with these families and indeed with our entire state every precious life that has been lost,” Gov. Phil Murphy said in his daily press briefing.

Experts agree that until widespread testing is available in New Jersey, the positive test numbers released daily will only be a fraction of the real cases. The state has encouraged people who are not that sick to stay home and not get tested due to the limited number of tests available in the state, and test sites in Paramus and Holmdel continue to hit capacity soon after opening each day.

The number of total positive cases is somewhat higher than what the state is reporting, according to numbers provided by county and local officials.
