What Did Turtle Back Zoo’s Essex Ed See Saturday Morning? – TAPinto.net
WEST ORANGE, NJ – Essex Ed, the resident groundhog at the Essex County Turtle Back Zoo, made his annual weather forecast on Saturday.
Ed did not see his shadow on Groundhog Day, meaning that warmer spring weather will arrive on time.
According to folklore, if it’s cloudy when the groundhog emerges from its burrow, winter-like weather will soon end. If it’s sunny and the groundhog sees its shadow, winter weather will continue for six more weeks.
In addition, Essex Ed predicted the Los Angeles Rams would defeat the New England Patriots.
“Ed is partial to teams with animal mascots, so he picked the Rams,” said Anthony Puglisi, spokesman for Essex County.
