County officials offered the following disclaimers about the totals:

“The number of infected individuals in any municipality is likely to be much greater than indicated as this data only includes persons who have been tested and whose lab results have been reported in the state’s data system. This data will not match any other report since cases are continually entering the system and local health departments may reassign place of residence as appropriate during their investigations.”

NURSING/RETIREMENT HOMES

Earlier this month, the NJDOH began to release coronavirus statistics for nursing and retirement homes, also known as “long-term care facilities.”

On Monday, state health officials issued an update on COVID-19 in West Orange’s nursing and retirement homes, which have seen 52 deaths. The totals included:

  • Daughters of Israel – 84 cases, 12 deaths
  • Alaris Health at West Orange – 23 cases, 4 deaths
  • The Cliffs at Eagles Rock – 25 cases, 8 deaths
  • Green Hill Assisted Living – 17 cases, 2 deaths
  • Brighton Gardens of West Orange – 13 cases, 3 deaths
  • Brookdale Senior Living of West Orange – 25 cases, 8 deaths
  • Complete Care at Summit Ridge – 17 cases, 5 deaths
  • Stratford Manor Rehabilitation & Care Center – 55 cases, 8 deaths
  • House of the Holy Comforter Canterbury Village – 1 case, no deaths
  • Arden Courts of West Orange – 10 cases, 2 deaths

Statewide, New Jersey had 16,277 confirmed cases of the virus in its long-term care facilities as of Monday with 1,911 lab-confirmed deaths, an 11.7 percent fatality rate. However, there have also been 1,062 “suspected” deaths connected to the disease, authorities said.

State health officials offered the following disclaimer about the numbers, which may not match totals that other government and health agencies are reporting:

“Deaths include COVID-positive deaths, deaths in persons with pending test results, and respiratory illness deaths for which COVID testing was not performed. The cases reported in this table are self-reported by facilities at a point in time and may not reflect real-time data. Case numbers are constantly changing and subject to updates.”
