Vineeta Khanna Continues to Lead Race for Livingston Board of Education Seat – TAPinto.net

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Vineeta Khanna remains at the head of the race for one open seat on the Livingston Board of Education (LBOE), according to the latest update from the Essex County Clerk’s Office on Thursday afternoon.

The unofficial results, which were updated on Thursday for the first time since 8:30 p.m. on Election Day, indicate that Khanna has received 4,095 (or 32.92 percent) of the 12,440 total votes cast for the LBOE, followed by Jenissa Arnette with 3,415 (or 27.45 percent), Bridgette Nevola with 2,859 (or 22.98 percent) and James Calderon with 2,071 (or 16.65 percent).

Khanna, who remains “cautiously hopeful” as the votes continue to be counted, stated that once the results are confirmed, it will be “time to hit the ground running and do due diligence.”

“It’s never really about the candidate, it’s the community that decides who represents them,” said Khanna. “It’s the team that carries the candidate through the journey of an effective campaign. It’s the quality of the contenders that makes the election important and impactful. In all these aspects, this campaign has been an outstanding experience.”

Earlier this week, Nevola said that it has been an honor to run alongside candidates who are all “committed to helping [the Livingston] community’s children through service on the BOE, on town-wide committees and in other service organizations.”

“One thing that this election season has shown is that when we focus on our children and their future, we can make great things happen,” she said. “I am honored to be in the company of such dedicated individuals.”

As of 6 p.m. on Thursday, the ECCO has reported the ballot results from 23,014 registered voters in Livingston. These results are not considered official until confirmed by the state.
