Union’s Business Administrator to be Inducted into the East Orange Hall of Fame

UNION, NJ – The East Orange Hall of Fame Selection Committee has selected Union’s Business Administrator, Ronald Manzella, for induction into the East Orange Hall of Fame.

“Your outstanding achievements and contributions to the greater East Orange community has deemed you worthy of this great honor,” reads the letter from the East Orange Hall of Fame Selection Committee.  “In reviewing your credentials, the committee unanimously supported your nomination and selection in the Hall of Fame.”

“When I was nominated to the East Orange Hall of Fame, I was extremely proud to be selected,” said Manzella.  “I truly felt the special honor of becoming a member of the East Orange Hall of Fame.”

Manzella, a Union resident, was born and raised in East Orange.  He graduated from Rutgers University and received a Master’s Degree from Seton Hall.

Before becoming Union’s Business Administrator, Manzella was Director of Youth Services in Essex County, Director of Correctional Services in Essex County and County Administrator, Essex County.

Manzella has been married to his wife Linda for over 53 years.  “I was captain of the football team and she was co-captain of the twirlers,” he said.  Manzella was named football player of the year in 1968 and was captain of the high school baseball team.

Manzella and his wife have two children, Carrie (and husband Billy) and Ronald (and wife Gina), and three grandchildren, Alyssa, 12, Julianna, 9, and Ronnie III, 8.

“I love working for the Township of Union,” added Manzella.

“We have a rich tradition of achievement in East Orange,” read Manzella’s letter from the Hall of Fame.  “By inducting you into the Hall of Fame, we are thanking you for the contributions that you have made in continuing his tradition of excellence.”

The 2018 inductees will be honored at the 2018 East Orange Hall of Fame Award Ceremony/Showcase on Saturday, November 24, at the Cicely L. Tyson Community School of Performing and Fine Arts at 35 Winans Street, East Orange.
