WEST ORANGE, NJ — There were two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in West Orange on Saturday, according to Mayor Robert Parisi. No new deaths were recorded.
The total intake of cases in West Orange was 1,375. Deaths are included in the “total intake” number and remain “active” until a full investigation is complete. The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in West Orange was 171.
Three township residents were hospitalized with the coronavirus, each of them in intensive care. There were 407 current active coronavirus cases in West Orange. The township reports that there have been 895 recovered and closed cases.
Essex County reported 12 new cases of the virus overnight, for a total of 18,531 cases of COVID-19 in the county. There have been 66,717 negative test results in Essex County. There have been 1,761 deaths in Essex County attributed to the coronavirus.
New Jersey had 338 confirmed new infections Saturday, bringing the statewide total of cases to 168,834 since the start of the pandemic, according to the New Jersey Department of Health. Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 fell by 52 to 1,125 as of late Friday.
