Two Arrested After 25-year-old Shot in the Abdomen in Montclair

MONTCLAIR, NJ – A 25-year-old Elizabeth man was shot in the abdomen in Montclair on Sunday night, Montclair Police reported. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the incident.

According to published reports, at approximately 10:53 p.m., a passerby reported to police that a male with a single bullet wound to the abdomen had been shot in the area of Planchet Drive in Montclair. 

The victim was transported to an area hospital and is in stable condition at this time, Lt. David O’ Dowd of the Montclair Police Department reported.

Upon further investigation, police reported that 20-year-old Daevon Saunders-Roberts of Montclair and 18-year-old Quanaisa Owens of Elizabeth were identified and arrested on May 1 for their involvement in this incident. 

O’ Dowd stated that Saunders-Roberts was charged with Robbery, Conspiracy, Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose and Owens was charged with Conspiracy. 

Police state that this incident remains under investigation.
