Trespasser Fatally Injured by NJ Transit Train in Montclair
MONTCLAIR, NJ – NJ Transit officials suspended service on the Montclair-Boonton line in both directions for nearly an hour, early Tuesday morning. The cause, fatal strike of a trespasser, officials confirm.
The train was traveling to New York Penn Station from Montclair State University at 4:55 AM, when the person was struck, said NJ Transit spokesperson Jim Smith.
Only 10 passengers were on board, at the time.
During the time of publication, details about the identity of the victim had not yet been released. There were no other injuries reported.
By 6 AM, service on the Montclair-Boonton line was restored, but delayed. More details will become available as they are released.
