Toms River Shooting Victim Dies Of Injuries – Toms River, NJ Patch

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Berkeley Township man who was shot in the head Sunday in Toms River has died, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said Thursday.

Javon Cutler, 19, died about 7 p.m. Wednesday at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he had been hospitalized since Sunday night. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday afternoon, Billhimer said.

Cutler and two friends were leaving the Toms River Apartments on Main Street about 8:15 p.m. Sunday when someone began shooting at the vehicle, Billhimer said. Cutler, who was sitting in the back seat, was struck in the head. The driver of the vehicle drove him straight to Community Medical Center, and from there he was taken to Jersey Shore with what authorities on Sunday said were life-threatening injuries.

Billhimer said the investigation into Cutler’s shooting is continuing and anyone with any information is urged to contact Detective Denis Mitchell of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027, or Toms River Police Detective Jennifer Grob at 732-349-0150.

Authorities also are continuing to investigate a shooting that happened about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at an unspecified site on Washington Street. There were no reported injuries in that shooting, Billhimer said. He has not said whether the two shootings are connected.
