SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ – Sussex County Division of Health reported four additional coronavirus patients and two additional COVID-19 related deaths as of June 2.
An 89-year-old Sparta woman and 73-yaer-old Andover man lost their lives to coronavirus.
This brings the total number of coronavirus cases to 1127 in the county and 151 deaths. They also state 945 people have recovered.
New Jersey Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli reported one additional child with the rare pediatric inflammatory ailment. She said it is a new disease, not Kawasaki because the victims are often teens not young children. Persichilli said seven of the afflicted children remain in the hospital.
According to the New Jersey Department of Health COVID-19 dashboard there are 11,770 reported coronavirus deaths and 161,545 confirmed positive coronavirus cases. Officials report 817,677 tests have been administered.
Hudson County has the highest number of positive tests in the state with 18,455 coronavirus patients and 1,188 deaths. Bergen County is reporting 18,333 positive tests and 1,584 deaths.
Essex County is reporting the highest COVID-19 death toll with 1,672 victims and 17,752 patients.
According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus resource center, The United States currently has 1,831,806 confirmed cases and 106,180 coronavirus deaths. New York City has reported 29,968 COVID-19 related deaths and 66,262 recovered patients.

Sussex County Administrator Gregory Poff announced the drive through testing sight at Sussex County Community College opened on May 11. According to reports there have been six positive cases in approximately 200 people tested. Residents must have a prescription and be showing symptoms to be able to get an appointment. The test is a Nasopharyngeal swab test, according to the county. This site does not offer antibody testing, even if the resident has a prescription.

New Jersey Department of Human Services has launched a hotline for residents who need help coping with stress and anxiety during the health crisis. The hotline is open from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. seven days a week- 866-202-4357.
St. Joseph’s Health in Paterson is also providing a free helpline for hearing impaired Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 973-870-0677.
