Sussex County COVID-19 June 15 – TAPinto.net

SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ – Sussex County Division of Health reported three additional cases COVID-19 and no coronavirus related additional deaths on June 15.  The total number of cases in the county to 1193 with 181 deaths and 995 recovered patients, reported on June 13.

Outdoor dining and non-essential retail returned to New Jersey on Monday. 

Restaurants must have tables six feet apart, employees must wear masks and gloves and frequently sanitize “high touch” areas.  State officials said municipalities have been encouraged to help businesses expand their outdoor dining footprint on sidewalks, streets and parking areas.

Retail stores are limited to 50% capacity, employees must wear masks and gloves, patrons must wear masks.  Stores have to have barriers, signage and floor markers to encourage social distancing.   

Libraries have begun curbside service but patrons cannot enter the library.

State officials announced some details about sports reopening:

July 22 recreation leagues, high school and college “low risk” sports can resume.  This includes golf and tennis.  Baseball, softball, soccer and outdoor basketball considered “medium risk” can begin with non-contact drills and practice.  Competitions can possibly begin on July 6.

“High risk” sports such as football, lacrosse and hockey will also be limited to non-contact drills at first with full practices and competitions could being on July 20.

Next week personal care businesses can open.  The week of June 29 will see return of some Motor Vehicle Commission functions.  The week of July 6 will usher in outdoor graduation ceremonies, youth camps and township recreation programs and summer education programs.

Child-care centers are also opening.  They must screen the children and staff each day.  Staff must wear masks.  Children over two are encouraged to wear masks.  Masks are prohibited for children under two-years-old.  Children must be in groups of 10 or fewer.  Close contact is discouraged, resources should not be shared and staff members should not move between groups.

According to the New Jersey Department of Health COVID-19 dashboard there are 12,676 reported coronavirus deaths and 167,103 confirmed positive coronavirus cases. The dashboard 1,116, 083 New Jersey residents have been tested as of June 15.

Bergen County has passes Hudson County and is now the highest number of positive tests in the state with 18,848 coronavirus patients and 1,664 deaths.  Hudson County is reporting 18,765 positive tests and 1,256 deaths.  Essex County is reporting the highest COVID-19 death toll with 1,751coronavirus related deaths and 18,375 positive test results

According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus resource center, The United States currently has 2,113,372 confirmed cases and 116,135 coronavirus deaths.  New York City has reported 30,856 COVID-19 related deaths and 68,851 recovered patients as of June 15.

Drive thru testing is available by appointment at Sussex County Community College to Sussex County residents who have a prescription.

New Jersey Department of Human Services has launched a hotline for residents who need help coping with stress and anxiety during the health crisis.  The hotline is open from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. seven days a week- 866-202-4357.

St. Joseph’s Health in Paterson is also providing a free helpline for hearing impaired Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 973-870-0677.
