SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ – Sussex County Division of Health announced six new coronavirus patients and no new deaths.  This brings the total number of cases in the county to 1185 with 181 deaths and 991 recovered patients, as reported on June 11.

In the 100 day since New Jersey had its first confirmed case of COVID-19, officials report hospitalizations continue to decline with 1,512 coronavirus patients, nearly 200 fewer than yesterday.

The New Jersey Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli reported for the third day no new children were reported to have the rare pediatric Inflammatory ailment that appears to come from an overreaction of the immune system to COVID-19.

Governor Murphy released the results of a survey of businesses and non-profits regarding what they need from the state to get back to work.  Of the 4000 responses, mostly from businesses, more than half, 51% said they thought customer confidence regarding their safety was the biggest obstacle to success, as well as having sufficient personal protective equipment and being able to comply with safety requirements.

More than half of the businesses that responded said they relied most heavily on state and local health officials for information and guidance.

Murphy’s response to the survey included “One Jersey Pledge” where business owners and non-profit leaders let the public know they are partnering with the government regarding coronavirus safety concerns. 

Murphy’s voluntary plan includes having branded signs placed in participating stores and businesses, with a separate but similar sign addressing customer concerns and employee concerns.  The hope is that businesses will garner public confidence from customers and employees with this campaign.

According to the New Jersey Department of Health COVID-19 dashboard there are 12,443 reported coronavirus deaths and 165,816 confirmed positive coronavirus cases. The dashboard said 1,030,793 New Jersey residents have been tested as of June 11.

Bergen County has passes Hudson County and is now the highest number of positive tests in the state with 18,719 coronavirus patients and 1,646 deaths.  Hudson County is reporting 18,675 positive tests and 1,242 deaths.  Essex County is reporting the highest COVID-19 death toll with 1,723 victims and 18,234 patients.

According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus resource center, The United States currently has 2,023,385 confirmed cases and 113,818 coronavirus deaths.  New York City has reported 30,580 COVID-19 related deaths and 68,211 recovered patients as of June 11.

Drive thru testing is available by appointment at Sussex County Community College to Sussex County residents who have a prescription.

New Jersey Department of Human Services has launched a hotline for residents who need help coping with stress and anxiety during the health crisis.  The hotline is open from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. seven days a week- 866-202-4357.

St. Joseph’s Health in Paterson is also providing a free helpline for hearing impaired Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 973-870-0677.
