Scrimmage Season Arrives for Millburn Spring Sports

MILLBURN, NJ – Stubborn late winter weather has put a crimp in the scrimmage schedules of all the Millburn High School spring sports teams.

Even as spring arrives Tuesday, outdoor sports squads are facing more cancellations and further indoor practices in lieu of outdoor scrimmages as the forecast calls for more mixed wintry precipitation.

The Millburn baseball team, which had its first scrimmage on the road at Cranford (which has a turf field) last Thursday, may have to wait for the start of the regular season March 31 to unveil its renovated baseball field–one which will feature newly constructed dugouts but, alas, still no outfield fences.

The regular lacrosse season is slated to begin several days earlier, with the boys facing off on March 28 and the girls March 29.

Varsity softball, finally, will have its opener on April 2–weather permitting.
