Saturday Youth Classes for Algebra, Chess and More to Begin at Essex County College – TAPinto.net
NEWARK, NJ – Registration for Essex County College’s Saturday Youth Program – classes that include algebra, chess and reading comprehension – will open on Jan. 12.
The overall program begins Jan. 19 for 10 sessions of classes at the college’s main Newark campus. In-person registration will take place on Jan. 12, 19 and 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 3291 at the college’s Newark location.
Classes are geared toward children from ages five to students in high school. Tuition for each class is $100, but fees vary from course to course depending on supplies that are needed. Most fees are $5 dollars, but others are $20, a college spokesman said. There are fees for uniforms in the martial arts class vary as well.
The college will also offer preparation classes for both parts of the PARCC exam for students in grades three to eight. SAT English and math preparation classes will also be available to students in grades 11 and 12.

– Fun with Phonics for children in kindergarten through second grade
– Geometry for students in grades nine and ten
– Improving Penmanship for students ages nine to 12
– Improving Reading Comprehension for children in grades one through eight
– Keyboarding and Word Processing for children ages nine to 15
– Martial Arts for children ages six through 15
– Musical Performers Studio for those ages eight to 15
– Sew Fashion for students ages six to 15
– Problem Solving Math for students in grades one through eight
– Spanish for Youth for children ages six to 11
– STEM Enrichment geared for students in grades one through six
– Zumba for Kids aimed at children ages six to 11
