Saints Of Newark Films In Bloomfield; Sopranos Crew Back In NJ – Bloomfield, NJ Patch

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — The cat is officially out of the bag: it was the “Sopranos” prequel movie that was filming in Bloomfield.

Bloomfield police announced that filming was taking place on Wednesday morning near Broad Street and Watchung Avenue, but didn’t specify that it was for the highly anticipated, upcoming movie, “The Many Saints of Newark.”

But later that day, Holsten’s Brookdale Confectionary offered the info that many bystanders were doubtlessly pondering as they watched a crew set up lights, roll out some classic cars and even dump some fake snow on the curb.

“The cat is officially out of the bag,” Holsten’s announced on social media. “Yes, we said we were doing some renovations, which we are in our basement, but really we are closed for The Sopranos movie, ‘The Many Saints of Newark.'”

Holsten’s is planning to reopen on Friday at 11 a.m.

It isn’t the confectionary shop’s first brush with the Sopranos film crew, which became known for shooting across Essex County. The shop was also featured in the final episode of the iconic HBO series.

Holsten’s wasn’t the only spot in Bloomfield where filming took place this week.

Rombiolo Bakery Café also reported that a crew from Rose City Productions Inc. was shooting a scene for the movie. The café shared some photos of the scene on social media.
