SAGE Eldercare Support Groups Now Available Via Zoom and Telephone – TAPinto.net

SUMMIT, NJ – To help those in need during COVID-19, SAGE Eldercare is now offering support groups via Zoom and telephone. The nonprofit is opening its popular Adult Children Caregivers group to new members and starting two new groups: Caregivers Who Have a Spouse/ Partner Diagnosed with Dementia Living at Home and Caregivers Age 60 and Older Who Have a Spouse / Partner residing in a care facility.

The free support groups will be led by Kathy Larkin, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and SAGE InfoCare Manager.

– Caregivers Who Have a Spouse/Partner diagnosed with Dementia living at home begins on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, 2:00 to 3:30 pm.  This group will meet twice per month; every other Wednesday.

– Caregivers age 60 and Older Who Have a Spouse/Partner residing in a care facility begins on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, 2:00 to 3:30 pm.  This group will meet every other Tuesday; twice per month. 

– Adult Children Caregivers who Coordinate the Care of a Parent or Parents begins on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, 4:30 to 5:45pm. This group will meet every other Tuesday; twice per month.

“Caregiving can be gratifying, but it is also very challenging, especially during this unprecedented time. It is important to know that you are not alone with your concerns, and questions,” Larkin said. “SAGE’s support groups provide those who help take care of older adults, whether they are a spouse or an adult child, a safe place to discuss their concerns, share ideas, and receive emotional support.”
