Prepare for Hail; Thunderstorm Coming South Orange and Maplewood’s Way – TAPinto.net

SOUTH ORANGE AND MAPLEWOOD, NJ – The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 9 p.m. for Essex County and the region, As well as a flash flood warning until 5:45 pm.

The watch issued at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday followed a severe thunderstorm warning earlier in the day which warned of 60 mph wind gusts.

“Minor hail damage to vehicles is possible,” the weather statement said. “Expect wind damage to trees and power lines.”

The statement predicted the thunderstorm would hit our area in the 2:45 to 3 pm time frame.
