Off-duty Newark police Lt. allegedly fatally shoots ex-wife, wounds her boyfriend – 1010WINS
JEFFERSON, N.J. (1010 WINS) — Authorities say an off-duty police officer fatally shot his ex-wife and wounded her boyfriend at a northern New Jersey home Sunday night.
Essex County prosecutors say Newark police Lt. John Formisano, 49, was arrested early Monday at his parents’ home in Livingston, not long after the shooting occurred in Jefferson.
The ex-wife apparently ran to a neighbor for help, the neighbor froze, and didn’t let her in, and was then shot.
It is believed the couple’s two children were in the house at the time.
