Nutley Plans to Install Synthetic Turf on Father Glotzbach Park’s Softball Field – TAPinto.net
NUTLEY, NJ – Nutley commissioner gave a public affairs report and plans to place synthetic turf on the girls’ softball field discussed revealed during the Tuesday, May 18 public meeting. Public Safety Commissioner Alphonse Petracco was marked absent excused.
COVID-19 overtime in the Department of Public Safety for the April 30 Payroll is $3,965.
Commissioner John V. Kelly III gave a report of the Public Affairs and Health Department’s non-COVID-19 related initiatives and clinics held during the pandemic year. The department administered 165 marriage licenses, 285 birth letters, 795 Santa Claus letters, 142 rabies vaccinations, 121 RF license, 203 treasure chests from the holiday event, one community Flu Clinic, 260 Flu vaccines, 172 various vaccines, nine child health clinics, three blood pressure clinics, two crossing guard physicals, two school audits, and 43 non-communal disease investigations occurred.
Mayor Mauro G. Tucci announced the township is restarting the summer concert series at Memorial Park also known as the “Mud Hole.” The first concert is Lights Out, a Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons Tribute Band at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 17.
Ordinance
The BOC approved Ordinance No. 3472 removing the temporary four-ton weight limit on the Centre Street Bridge on Harrison Street from Franklin Avenue to Passaic Avenue, which the township put in place due to its age. Essex County replaced the bridge in 2018.
The BOC held a public hearing required to submit a grant to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protections Urban Parks Initiative was held for Father Glotzbach Park to turn the girls’ softball field to synthetic turf. The total cost of the renovation is $586,750; the township is applying for a $500,000 grant. According to Tucci, in order to receive the Green Acres Land Acquisition and Park Development Program grant the township has to apply for the Urban Parks Initiative grant and let that roll over. Resolutions
The BOC passed the Township of Nutley Urban Parks Initiative Enabling Resolution, Resolution No. 124-21 and the Green Acres Enabling Resolution, Resolution No. 123-21 “The Township of Nutley Glotzbach Park Softball Field Improvement Project.”
Resolution No. 123-21 was approved allowing the township to submit an application for a $500,000 grant from the Urban Parks Initiative. Resolution No. 123-21 was approved to request a $440,062.50 in the form of a 75 percent matching grant and, if available, a $146,687.50 loan, from the State. The resolution states that if a match is required for the project, the township will match $146,687.50.
A Place-to-Place Transfer of Plenary Retail Consumption License was approved to Sonoma Bistro Bar & Grill, LLC of 59 Park Ave., Rutherford for an inactive pocket license. The license is transferred to the premises located at 350 Passaic Ave.
The township entered into a contract with Dovelin Enterprises of West Berlin to replace the gym floor at the Parks and Recreation Building at 44 Park Ave. Insurance is covering the $131,584 cost for replacement.
The Board approved Resolution No. 125-21 authorizing submission of a strategic plan for the Nutley Municipal Alliance grant for fiscal year 2022 in the amount of $8,700 – DEDR (Drug Enforcement and Demand Reduction); $2,175 – Cash Match; and $6,525 –In-Kind. According to the resolution, the township must also follow the terms and conditions for controlling the Municipal Alliance grant, including the administrative compliance and audit requirements.
The BOC granted a refund of overpayment of 2021 tax charges of $795.60 to the owner of 45 Oak St.
A $50 tree removal permit was refunded to Maritza Mora at 105 Kingsland St. The Township Preservation of Trees Ordinance # 665-22 states that the township charges $50 for each tree removal permit but can refunds by planting a new tree on the property according to the size and species approved by the township forester.
A refund of $50 for Yoga for recreation program was granted to the owner of 27 Freeman Place.
