Newark Parking Authority Employee Charged with Narcotics, Firearms Offenses – TAPinto.net

NEWARK, NJ — A Newark Parking Authority employee is charged with selling narcotics and illegally possessing a weapon while on the job, the U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey announced 

Aughkay Green, 48, was indicted on one count each of possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute cocaine base and felony possession of a firearm, according to authorities.

Green is alleged to have sold 25 bricks of, equal to 38 grams, of heroin and nearly 50 grams of crack cocaine to buyer in 2017 while under police surveillance. Police say Green wore his Newark Parking Authority uniform while making the sales, according to the indictment.

Later the same year, police say they observed Green and an unidentified associate provide an individual with two handguns and 50 rounds of ammunition. Green’s associate gave the proceeds from the sale to Green and discussed a plan to purchase more drugs. 

Green is facing up to 40 years in prison for the count of cocaine base possession, 20 years for possession of heroin with intent to distribute and 10 years for the firearms charge, which also carries a $250,000 fine. 

In July, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for New Jersey also charged 12 men with running a drug ring from the Rotunda Recreation Center on Clifton Avenue in Newark. Three of the men charged were working at the rec-center part-time, alarming the neighborhood and parents who bring their children there to use the rec center facilities.
