ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — UPDATE: A Newark police spokesperson said Monday that Mirza Chacon has been located. Our original article follows below.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help finding Mirza Chacon, 17, of Newark, who has been reported missing.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, Mirza was last seen on Sunday, Jan. 27 at approximately 9:30 a.m. She was wearing a red t-shirt and blue jeans.

“While police are actively searching for Mirza Chacon, we seek the public’s help in quickly locating her and returning her to his family,” Newark police said.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Mirza Chacon can call the department’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477) or 1-877-NWK-GUNS (1-877-695-4867). Anonymous tips may also be made using the Police Division’s website at: www.newarkpd.org or through the Newark Police Division smartphone app.
