Newark Drive In Movie Theater Hosting Tribute To Chadwick Boseman – Newark, NJ Patch

NEWARK, NJ — Moonlight Cinema in Newark will kick off a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman this week.

  • Sept. 10 – “Get On Up”
  • Sept. 11 – “21 Bridges”
  • Sept. 12 – “Avengers: Infinity War”
  • Sept. 13 – “Avengers: Endgame”

Boseman, who turned out iconic performances as Thurgood Marshall, Jackie Robinson and James Brown before his role as T’Challa in the blockbuster adaptation of “Black Panther,” died of cancer earlier this month. He was 43.

His passing was mourned by Newark native Michael B. Jordan, who wrote in a touching obituary message that he “wishes he had more time” with his co-star.

U.S. Rep. Donald Payne Jr. of New Jersey’s 10th District, which includes Newark, also mourned for the late movie star.

“Chadwick Boseman’s death was very personal to me because I know what it feels like to lose a loved one suddenly to colon cancer,” Payne said, referring to his late father, Donald Payne Sr., who served as New Jersey’s first African American congressman.
