New Tropical Smoothie Café Brings Healthy Option to Livingston Area

LIVINGSTON, NJ – Fresh-blended drinks and healthful meals have arrived in Livingston with the new Tropical Smoothie Café, officially open as of Monday at 280 Eisenhower Parkway, Suite 102, in the Container Store complex between European Wax Center and Tempur-Pedic.

The café features an island-inspired atmosphere and is owned by local franchisees Chris and Wendy Strutt, who said they are excited to “bring the flavor of the tropics” to Livingston-area residents. On Monday, the Strutts offered giveaways, product tastings and special menu deals, such as $1.99 smoothies all day, as part of its grand opening celebration as well as one free smoothie every week for a year to the first 30 customers who ordered both a smoothie and a meal.

With a line out the door and employees from nearby businesses raving about finally having a healthy option to choose from during their lunch break, the Strutts met hundreds of new customers in no time.

“We brought this to Northern New Jersey because we wanted to do something that brings a healthier lifestyle,” said Chris Strutt. “This location in particular is just a great area—it pulls from Livingston, Hanover and Chatham. What I really like about the town is that it’s got a lot of people, but it acts like a smaller town and we like the community feel, so that’s one of the things that we really want to be a part of is the community.”

In addition to being proud of being part of a brand that “inspires healthier lifestyles,” the Strutts said they are looking forward to being involved in the community and also giving back to local communities.

“Our motto of ‘Eat Better, Feel Better’ goes beyond a visit to the café,” they said. “With the support of our Tropical community, we know we can make a difference to those in need and bring awareness to our local community of the services of Camp Sunshine for seriously ill children and their families.”

The Strutts took advantage of their grand opening celebration on Monday as an opportunity to raise funds and awareness for Camp Sunshine, a year-round retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families that is free of charge thanks to people like Chris and Wendy. The camp combines respite, recreation and support, while also enabling hope and promoting joy for these families, according to its website.

The Livingston location of Tropical Smoothie Café is part of one of the fastest-growing concepts in the country and is now one of 650 locations nationwide. The brand is known for providing made-to-order real fruit smoothies, as well as toasted sandwiches, flatbreads, wraps and bowls. Breakfast menu items and housemade sides are also available all day.

The Livingston café will continue its grand opening celebration on Tuesday by offering $1.99 flatbreads all day.
