The national bus driver shortage is no secret to New Jersey families stuck waiting at drop-off locations or dealing with altered release schedules at the start of the school year.
The Camden school district announced Tuesday it will try to tackle the issue in a variety of ways, including a $1,000 incentive for parents willing to drive kids to school themselves.
“As of this week we recognize there are still many students citywide who are without transportation. As we continue to press vendors for available bus drivers, we want to share with all families the alternatives currently available to support you in getting your student to school,” Neil Dwyer, senior director of school operations for the district, said in a letter to families.
