More Than $160000 Raised at RWJBarnabas Running with the Devils 5K

WEST ORANGE, NJ — More than $160,000 was raised at RWJBarnabas Health’s (RWJBH) second annual Running with the Devils 5K Run and Walk in support of RWJBH and the New Jersey Devils’ collective effort to build stronger communities by promoting healthy, active lifestyles and world-class healthcare.

Proceeds from the race, held at Essex County’s South Mountain Recreation Complex in West Orange, will benefit programs and services at RWJBH’s 11 statewide hospital facilities, hospice initiatives, the Behavioral Health Network and Children’s Specialized Hospital.

RWJBH is the official healthcare provider of the New Jersey Devils. According to RWJBH president and chief executive officer Barry Ostrowsky, this annual philanthropic event aligns with RWJBH’s mission of promoting healthy and active lifestyles, while benefiting all hospitals and facilities within the RWJBH system.

Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo, Jr. served as the honorary chairman for the event, which kicked off with a competitive 5K race on a USATF Certified Course through and was complemented by a family fun walk through the South Mountain Reservation. Additional activities included interactive games, an appearance from the New Jersey Devils mascot, music, face painting and the opportunity to meet New Jersey Devils alumni.

Among the alumni were Bruce Driver, a New Jersey Devils Stanley Cup Champion of 1995, and Grant Marshall, a New Jersey Devils Stanley Cup Champion of 1993, who are pictured above with DiVincenzo, the NJ Devils mascot, Ostrowsky and Hugh Weber, president of the NJ Devils and Prudential Center.
