Montclair Basketball Legend to Be Posthumously Honored During Seton Hall Game – TAPinto.net

MONTCLAIR, NJ – Seton Hall University will be honoring basketball legend Robert Hurt, Sr. on Saturday, February 1, 2020, his family announced.

According to his family, Hurt was the first African-American male to play basketball at the University in 1948. He is known most for using his left hand to play the sport.

Hurt is the father of the late Robert ‘Bobby Smooth’ Hurt, also a basketball player, whom the Glenfield Park basketball courts are named after.

This honor will take place at Seton Hall at 10:30am at the Prudential Center during the Seton Hall vs. Xavier basketball game.
