Meadowlands Field Station to Close Over the Weekend – TAPinto.net

TRENTON, NJ – Governor Phil Murphy released the newest number of presumptive positive cases of novel coronavirus and deaths at his Friday afternoon press conference, where he also announced the death of a four-year-old child, the first death of a patient under 18 in the state.

There are 1,985 new cases with 162 new deaths. Statewide, there are 135,454 positive cases and 8,952 deaths. 

There are 33 patients in the three Field Medical Stations throughout the state. Murphy announced that the Field Medical Station in the Meadowlands Exposition Center will be closed over the weekend, and operations transferred to East Orange General Hospital. Supplies from the site will be put into storage for future use. The Meadowlands site had admitted 268 patients, and discharged 251, according to Murphy.

Bergen County Executive James Tedesco announced that there are 16,757 presumptive positive cases in the county as of 12 noon Friday. Locally, Hasbrouck Heights has 194 cases, Wood-Ridge 135 cases, and Teterboro 5 cases. 

According to Murphy, Bergen County continues to lead the state in cases with 16,709, and followed by Hudson (16,520), Essex (15,256), Passaic (14,280), Union (13,917), and Middlesex (13,617), with 553 under investigation.  There are a total of 1,329 deaths in Bergen County, while Essex County continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state with 1,398.

As of 10 p.m. Thursday, there were 4,605 people hospitalized with COVID-19 or under investigation, which is down from a peak of 8,270, a reduction of 40 percent, according to Murphy.  1,439 patients are in ICU or critical care, and 1,089 patients on ventilators. There were 464 patients were discharged from hospitals and 334 new admissions in the last 24 hours.

There are 33 patients in the three Field Medical Stations throughout the state.

According to Commissioner of Health Judith Persichilli, a total of 261,869 tests have been administered, with 102,846 testing positive, a 39.27% positive rate.
