Maplewood’s Vincent Nardone Passes Away, South Orange Elks Mourn

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Vincent A. Nardone, a Maplewood resident, military veteran and “one of the greatest South Orange Elks ever” passed away at Saint Barnabas Medical Center on May 8. He was 90-years-old.

The South Orange Elks shared a message of consolation on social media:

“Rest in peace, Vinnie Nardone, one of the greatest South Orange Elks ever! His love and work for the children of the Special Children’s Committee will never be forgotten.”

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange on Friday, May 11 at 9:30 a.m. Interment is in Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood on Thursday, May 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. For more information or to send condolences, visit jacobhollefuneralhome.com.

“Vincent A. Nardone, 90, of Maplewood, N.J., passed away at St. Barnabas Medical Center on May 8, 2018.

“Vinnie was born in and was a lifelong resident of Maplewood. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the World War II era from 1946 to 1947. He worked for Harrington Construction in Maplewood as a heavy equipment operator from 1971 to 1991. He was a member of the Savoia Society Club in South Orange, chairman of the Children’s Special Needs Committee and former officer of the South Orange Elks, Lodge 1154, and member of the VFW Post 10120 in Maplewood.

“He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rose Sheridan Nardone, his daughter, Eugenia S. Felt, and his brother, Joseph Nardone. He is survived by his sons, Leo E. Nardone (Patricia), Vincent J. Nardone (Laura); his sisters, Judith Hagerstrom, Margaret Denney, Cecilia Fabrizio, and Antoinette Metta; grandchildren, Paul Felt, Kristen, Leo, Joseph, and Hunter Nardone, and great-grandchildren, Ryan and Jake Grossman.

“In lieu of flowers, donations to South Orange Elks Children’s Special Needs Committee, 220 Prospect Street, South Orange, NJ 07079 would be appreciated.”
