Man who attacked Jackson woman in road-rage incident to remain jailed – wobm.com
The Ewing man who allegedly attacked a Jackson woman following a road-rage incident earlier this month, will remain in the Ocean County Jail pending trial for Attempted Murder, as orders by Judge Wendel Daniels, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced on Wednesday.
Michael Mahan, 38, was also charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Terroristic Threats and Eluding in the May 8 incident.
The woman he attacked was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Jackson Police found her laying on Maria Street with a large gash on her face from being cut with a knife by Mahan who also held the knife to her neck.
Mahan had tailed her home following an apparent road rage incident.
A neighbor intervened as Mahan attacked the woman and that’s when he took off.
Police spotted his vehicle along Toms River Road but he floored it when he saw officers leading to a pursuit that ended when it became a safety issue.
Mahan struck a car before the pursuit ended and another one as he continued to flee from police and finally stopped when his own vehicle became disabled on West Veterans Highway.
He was then arrested.
The occupants of the two vehicles were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The detention hearing was handled by Ocean County Assistant Prosecutor Alex Becker.
