Man fatally shot in 2nd Newark killing in 2 days, authorities say – NJ.com
A 42-year-old Essex County man was shot to death Wednesday night in Newark, the second fatal shooting in two days, authorities said.
Akram Brown, of Newark, was shot on Mount Vernon Place and pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 8 p.m., according to acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara.
No arrests were made. Detectives from the prosecutor’s office’s Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes officers from the city police department, are investigating.

The shooting was at least the third in two days and the second deadly shooting, authorities said.
On Tuesday, Halee A. Wing, of Millstone, was shot to death shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday on the 100 block of Pacific Street. A second person was wounded in the shooting.
