Longtime Newark City Staffer Confirmed As Essex County Judge – Newark, NJ Patch

NEWARK, NJ — One of Newark’s “finest legal minds” will be taking the bench as Essex County Superior Court’s newest judge, officials say.

On Wednesday, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka announced that Angela Foster has been confirmed as an Essex County Superior Court judge.

Baraka said:

“Judge Foster has been one of the most outstanding members of our Law Department, mostly recently serving as First Assistant Corporation Counsel. Prior to that, she was the department’s Chief of Staff, Chief Prosecutor, and Labor Section Chief. She has displayed the highest levels of honor, ethics, and commitment in all her works. Judge Foster is one of our city’s and state’s finest legal minds, and will be a powerful force for justice as an Essex County Superior Court Judge.”

“I congratulate Angela Foster on her confirmation as an Essex County Superior Court judge; thank State Senator Ronald Rice for his sponsorship of this appointment, and Governor Phil Murphy’s office for guiding her through this process,” Baraka said. “I also join with our Corporation Counsel, Kenyatta Stewart, and our entire legal team in thanking Judge Foster for more than 16 years of dedicated service to the people of Newark.”
