LOCAL FACILITY OFFERING COVID19 TESTING TO THE PEDIATRIC COMMUNITY AND OTHERS – TAPinto.net
Kinder Pediatric Urgent Care in Totowa and Union New Jersey is currently testing for COVID 19, and Medical Director, Dr. Patrina Konnick believes early diagnosis and treatment are the key to containment.
Furthering its commitment to provide greater access to COVID 19 testing for the pediatric community, Kinder Pediatric Urgent Care has extended its hours from 10am – 10pm everyday for not only Kinder children and their families, but for healthcare professionals, first responders and persons whom are exposed due to their work environment. Our pediatric and family medical experts at all our locations are available to you via Kinder Anywhere telemedicine platform Kinder Pediatric Urgent Care.
Senior Kinder Pediatric Urgent Care physician, Dr. Figen Altunkaya asks, “How can we focus on just the children and ignore Covid 19 screening and testing for their families, caregivers, or essential workers in their communities?” Dr. Altunkaya continues by explaining that patients who have minor to moderate symptoms will now know to self quarantine sooner, which will help reduce the spread of this illness. Other Kinder physicians concur and have agreed to answer the call to educate, screen, and offer testing to those in need per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.
Patients are encouraged to use the Kinder Anywhere telemedicine platform so they can be evaluated and approved for testing. All Covid 19 testing is done by appointment only, outside in our parking lots to avoid any cross contamination and to protect our non Covid 19 patients. Results can be received 24-36 hours at Kinder Pediatrics. All telemedicine visits via Kinder Anywhere are $0 copays and all deductibles waived for NJ Residents.
Chief Operating Officer, Jillian Stratton, is extremely proud of how the staff mobilized and adapted to this new urgent care environment. Ms. Stratton states, “We had telemedicine up and running in less than 48 hours because we knew people were scared and not leaving their homes due to the stay at home order by NJ Governor Phil Murphy”.
The realization hit home when she spoke to a mom who stated her child had injured their ankle but she was not going to the ER for an x-ray. With the advent of Kinder telemedicine and screening, that patient was cleared to come into the center for an x-ray. Ms. Stratton said, “It appeared patients were denying themselves access to health care out of fear or just plain discouraged because of lack of access to testing”.
Dr. Erin Leonard, DNP adds, “I believe that the community needs our support and guidance during this time. Whether it is seasonal allergies, new baby advice or someone who has been diagnosed with Covid 19 and needs support and medical information, we need to be there now more than ever”. To know that anyone in our community can connect to a board certified provider 12 hours a day, 7 days a week to seek medical counsel and treatment for Covid 19 and non Covid 19 illnesses has eased everyone’s piece of mind.
