Liquid Church To Pack 1 Million Holiday Meals To Feed The Hungry – Patch.com

PARSIPPANY, NJ – November 26, 2019 – In an effort to serve the hungry around the world, Liquid Church, one of Outreach Magazine’s fastest-growing American Christian churches, has announced it will once again pack one million holiday meals in a single weekend during the church’s annual Christmas Outreach. In addition to serving the global hungry at Christmas, volunteers are encouraged to bring winter gear donations to their outreach location, which will benefit New York City Relief, a mobile resource center serving the homeless and hungry at multiple locations across New York City and New Jersey.

“For many of us, Christmas means overstuffed schedules, credit card debt, and skyrocketing stress. We struggle to find the connection between our holiday to-do lists and the story of Jesus’ birth. This year, we look forward to flipping the script as we come together with the community to serve our brothers and sisters in need: Both at home and around the world!” said Tim Lucas, founder and lead pastor of Liquid Church, author of Liquid Church: 6 Powerful Currents to Saturate Your City for Christ. “We’re blown away by the response we’ve received this year, as over 6,000 volunteers have signed up to serve with us before Thanksgiving!”

On December 6th and 7th, volunteers will gather at 7 locations across 6 counties in New Jersey, including the church’s newest location in Monmouth County, to meet the goal of packing one million meals. Designed as a family event, children and parents will serve alongside each other at the Christmas Outreach, working in an “assembly line fashion” in order to pack thousands of meals in short order. The church will partner with Feed My Starving Children, a faith-based nonprofit organization with a vision to eliminate malnutrition and starvation in children throughout the world.

As part of the community Christmas Outreach, volunteers will not only serve the hungry around the world, but the hurting and homeless at home, too. Homelessness has spiked in New Jersey – and the Winter months are particularly difficult for the homeless. That’s why volunteers are encouraged to bring new winter hats, gloves or scarfs to their Christmas Outreach location to donate to New York City Relief, a mobile outreach serving those struggling with homelessness by providing hope in the form of homemade soup and bread, hygiene kits, Life Care Visits, and prayer.

“Serving others is the heartbeat of our church. As a pastor in New Jersey, I’ve found that many people in the Northeast have given up on church, but haven’t quite given up on God… and that’s why at Liquid Church, we exist to serve our neighbors-in-need and bless those outside our church walls,” said Lucas.
