Kids, ages 4 and 7, in stable condition after being shot in car in Newark – NJ.com

Two young children who were shot while riding in a car with their mother Wednesday in Newark remained hospitalized on Thursday in stable condition, police said.

The children, ages 4 and 7, were shot along with a 30-year-old man who was also in the car, according to Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara.

The three victims were taken to University Hospital in Newark, where they were all in stable condition on Thursday morning, according to a spokeswoman for the police department.

Police continue to look for the shooter. O’Hara said the shooter had been driving a car stolen from Kearny when the incident occurred. The owner of the stolen car had left the key inside, O’Hara said.

The police spokeswoman did not provide a description of the suspect, saying more information would be released later.
