Job Fair Coming To Essex County College (See Whos Hiring) – Newark, NJ Patch

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Job hunters in Essex County will be able to meet several companies looking for full and part-time help at a career fair on Thursday, Oct. 17.

Essex County College, in partnership with 12 local companies, is hosting a career fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its “4th Floor Training, Inc.” multipurpose room, 303 University Avenue in Newark.

According to a news release from the college, companies looking to fill a variety of positions at the Job Fair include AeroFarms, Compass Group, Daughters of Israel, Hertz, Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey, Lab Corp, Macy’s, Newark Community Health Centers, Inc., ShopRite, Sodexo – Quality of Life Services, Uniqlo, and Waste Management.

The career fair is open to all residents. Registration is recommended to attend the event and can be done online.

Some tips for job hunters include:

• “Dress professionally and be prepared for an interview.”
• “Be proactive, and stand out with the recruiters. Prepare yourself before the event by learning about the employer’s culture, product, personnel, location and industry. You will impress the recruiters with your knowledge of their business.”
• “Prepare a brief and effective statement of how your skills, experience, and qualifications fit their organization.”
• “Bring multiple copies of your resume and a pen.”
• “Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time slot.”

“The companies being represented have some great opportunities and we hope job seekers will take advantage of it,” said Mitra Choudhury, director of the college’s Training, Inc. program. “Our goal is to ensure that we keep building bridges between the employers and the students.”
