NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — West Essex opened a 15-point lead by halftime and maintained that on its way to a 49-34 girls basketball victory over Shabazz on Tuesday.

Halle Aschenbach scored 13 points, passed for three assists and came up with six steals for West Essex (12-3), which broke to an 11-2 lead after one quarter and led, 24-9, at the half.

Jessica Coia collected 12 points and 10 rebounds, Olivia Hansson finished with nine points and three assists and Dana Stelter grabbed eight rebounds to go with seven points for West Essex.
