Free Outdoor Movie Nights At Kip’s Castle Park In Verona
VERONA, NJ — Essex County Kip’s Castle Park will host a pair of “Free Friday Flicks” in June. Gates open at 7 p.m. and movies will be shown at dusk on the lawn at 22 Crestmont Avenue in Verona.
According to a news release from Essex County, the public is welcome to bring chairs or blankets to sit on. Admission is free; refreshments will be for sale. For more information, call 973-433-7469.
“Families can enjoy the outdoor movie presentation and experience this magnificent location in a new way,” Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. said.
The schedule is as follows:
- Friday, June 8: “Beauty and the Beast;” rated PG (Rain date is Saturday, June 9) – “Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. Before the movie, Storybook Beauty will make an appearance at 7:30 p.m.”
- Friday, June 15: “Mary Poppins;” rated G (Rain date is Saturday, June 16) – “Julie Andrews made her Oscar-winning film debut as the “practically perfect” Mary Poppins, a magical nanny who enlightens the lives of every one she meets while caring for a stiff banker’s two children in London in the early 1900s. Before the movie, there will be a show by Great Scott! Magic Show starring Scott Drukker and his talking parrot Thurston at 7:30 p.m.”
