Fourth of July Committee Begins Set-Up for Celebration at Millburn High School – TAPinto.net
MILLBURN, NJ – With Fourth of July less than a week away, the final preparations are starting to take shape.
Yesterday afternoon a couple of members of the Millburn Fourth of July committee were in front of the high school, prepping for crowd control. To that end, they installed fencing along the outside perimeter of the high school to make sure that when crowds do arrive, they do so in a safe manner.
The members working on-site included Chris Drucker, Bill Pollock and Craig Just. They were helped out by Jaimie Serruto. After Pollock and Just worked to drive poles into the ground, all four men went around stringing up black plastic fencing.
For Drucker, a visible face in town when it comes to the Fourth of July committee, none of the work the group does would be possible without the volunteers he made sure to credit.
“It’s a really dedicated group of guys,” Drucker said. “We do it basically for the township, for the kids and also for the adults at night, for the fireworks.”
Drucker also noted how far in advance the preparation starts for each year’s celebration.
“We start in January and we have different committees,” Drucker said. “One guy is in charge of the fireworks, another guy’s in charge of the rides, another guy is in charge of the vendors. So we have a good group of guys and we’re always looking for new members.”
