Former South Jersey Teacher Indicted for Sexual Relationship With Student – wpgtalkradio.com

Authorities say a man from Berlin has been indicted on charges of having a sexual relationship with a student while working as a teacher at Rancocas Valley Regional High School in Burlington County.

44-year-old Gary Jiampetti, who taught health and physical education, is facing two counts of second-degree official misconduct, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina.

An investigation began after cops received complaints that Jiampetti was behaving inappropriately around female students, according to Coffina. He says the investigation, “determined that a consensual sexual relationship existed between Jiampetti and a female student during the 2019-20 school year” and that relationship resulted in the student receiving favorable academic treatment.

Jiampetti was charged in July and he is no longer employed by the school district.

The investigation was conducted by numerous law enforcement agencies, including the Mount Holly and Berlin Township Police Departments and the Lower Camden County Regional Special Response Team.

The indictment was returned on August 31st. An arraignment will be held soon in Superior Court.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
