Fireworks Near Me: Hoboken’s 4th Of July, 2020 | Hoboken, NJ Patch – Hoboken, NJ Patch

HOBOKEN, NJ — July 4 is quickly approaching, which means it’s time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you this Independence Day. We gathered up the fireworks shows, parades, fun runs, and festivals happening around Hoboken, so you can start planning now. The holiday may be celebrated differently this year, so be sure to check guidance regarding the use of masks and social distancing before attending.

As in past years, Hoboken has no July 4 events scheduled for this year. But the town is partially restricting certain streets so that they’re open to walkers and bikers. Click here for the link to the streets and hours.

In the past, residents could head to the day-long celebration and concert nearby in Jersey City. But this year’s event was canceled in April, with Jersey City’s mayor saying it will return in 2021.

Here are some other local events and updates for fireworks and other July 4 events:

  • The State Fair Meadowlands, which normally has fireworks on July 4, is now running instead from July 23 through Aug. 9. When they update their schedule it will be here.
  • Secaucus Mayor Michael Gonnelli has canceled his town’s traditional July fireworks at the town pool, but said he may run them in August.
  • Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo announced on June 1 that the Essex County Summer Music Concert Series and fireworks displays were cancelled. Essex County traditionally hosted Fireworks Spectaculars in Branch Brook in Newark, Weequahic Park in Newark, and Brookdale Park in Bloomfield/Montclair.
  • North Wildwood’s fireworks and Fourth of July parade are still happening as of this writing.

Due to the pandemic and resulting policy changes (such as the firework policy) announced by Gov. Phil Murphy, counties or cities may adjust or cancel events at the last minute. Check your event before you go. Know of other events in the area? Post them on the Patch calendar for your town, or share details on our free Neighbor Post feature.
