Family Promise of Essex County, Inc., Is New Name For Interfaith Hospitality Network – Baristanet

Montclair, NJ – The Interfaith Hospitality Network for the Homeless of Essex County, Inc. (IHN), has changed its name to Family Promise of Essex County, Inc., (Family Promise Essex) effective immediately. The new name reflects the potential behind our holistic and comprehensive approach to preventing and ending homelessness for families with children.

The time was right to embrace the recognizable Family Promise name of the national office and the other U.S. Affiliates. Family Promise Essex will continue IHN’s original goal of helping at-risk families achieve self-sufficiency by providing shelter, social services and housing assistance through a community-based approach.

“Our name has changed, but our mission remains the same,” explains Jackie Baillargeon, Interim Executive Director of Family Promise. “Not only is Family Promise of Essex County, Inc. helping families during a crisis in their lives, but we are working to eliminate the root causes of homelessness. As hundreds of our volunteers know, homelessness is a situation, not a character trait. We will continue making a difference — one family at a time.”

Family Promise Essex’s programs provide support for families experiencing or at risk of homelessness so that they can achieve self-sufficiency, sustainability and permanence in housing. The programs include Emergency Shelter, Prevention and Stabilization and the Youth and Family Programs.
