Essex County Welcomes 28 U.S. Citizens At Naturalization Ceremony – Newark, NJ Patch

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A probation officer in Essex County made a smile-inducing appearance at a naturalization ceremony earlier this month… just 15 days after he became a U.S. citizen himself.

On Sept. 20, the Essex Vicinage hosted a naturalization ceremony for 28 new citizens at the historic courthouse on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Newark.

The Essex County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard opened the ceremony. Assignment Judge Sallyanne Floria presided over the event and administered the Oath of Allegiance.

The event included a guest appearance from another recently naturalized citizen, who now works as a probation officer. Court administrators wrote:

“Sean Connor, an adult supervision probation officer in the Essex Vicinage, volunteered for the vicinage’s naturalization ceremony – 15 days after HE became a naturalized U.S. citizen.”
