Essex County Teen Fatally Stabbed During Argument In Newark: ECPO – Newark, NJ Patch
NEWARK, NJ — An 18-year-old Irvington resident was fatally stabbed in Newark during an argument on Thursday, authorities said.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Asahiah Lawton, 18, of Irvington, was fatally stabbed on the 200-block of Court Street in Newark.
A preliminary investigation indicated that Lawton and a 22-year-old man got into a fight over a 19-year-old woman from Newark. After being stabbed, Lawton ran toward Jones and 14th streets, prosecutors said.
Lawton was transported to University Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 12:40 a.m., authorities said.
As of Thursday, nobody has been charged in connection with the stabbing, prosecutors said.
