Essex County Schools Celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week (PHOTOS)
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — They’re some of the most important people your child will ever meet in their lifetime: teachers.
Several Essex County school communities put on a heartwarming display of support for their local educators during 2018 Teacher Appreciation Week, which took place from May 7 to 11 this year.
Seen around Essex County (check out photos and more “thank yous” below):
- During “Pamper Yourself” day at North End School in Cedar Grove, teachers and staff members were treated to either a massage, acupuncture, or a facial provided by Mecca Medical. They also got “a beautiful lunch.”
- At Verona High School, the local SCA put together “a wonderful breakfast” to celebrate the week
- The PTA at Watchung School in Montclair sold flowers on Thursday before school. Students were given the flowers directly, and the children then distributed them to the teacher(s) they wanted to recognize.
- Culinary students and teachers catered a lunch for Nutley High School staff
What’s Teacher Appreciation Week? According to the National Education Association (NEA):
“Teachers give us so much. A boost of confidence when we really need one. Extra help when we’re having trouble. A welcoming presence when everything else seems out of control. And though we know we can’t ever thank them enough, we can take a moment during National Teacher Appreciation Week to share our appreciation for the special educators in our lives.”
