Essex County Computer and Electronics Recycling Day This Saturday – Patch.com

CEDAR GROVE, NJ — Residents of Essex County are invited to bring electronics they want to dispose of to the Computer and Electronics Recycling Day happening this Saturday.

The event is being held at the Essex County Public Works (Fleet Management), 99 West Bradford Avenue in Cedar Grove, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Recycling computer hardware and electronic devices helps remove lead and other dangerous chemicals from our waste stream, which is important for us and our children,” Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo said.

Objects accepted are computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, scanners, telecom equipment, speakers, televisions, keyboards, mainframes, VCRs, stereos, DVD players, toasters, irons, and cellular telephones.

Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms however will not be accepted.

“Our collection days are very popular and I am glad our residents understand the importance of recycling,” DiVincenzo said.

The event is open only to Essex County residents, and proof of residency is required to drop off items. Commercial businesses may not drop off materials. For more information, call the Essex County Utilities Authority at 973-792-9060 or click here.
