Election 2020: What We Know So Far in the SOMSD Board of Education Race – TAPinto.net

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Although it is too early to predict winners, the race for the South Orange Maplewood Board of Education is looking to be a close one. 

As of the last update of the Essex County Clerk’s election returns, at 8:33 p.m., the votes were as follows: 

Susan Lewis Bergin, 10,375 votes

Courtney Winkfield, 10,192 votes

Elissa Malespina, 7,718 votes

Deborah Engel, 7,709 votes

Melanie Finnern, 5,406 votes

The unofficial results page of the Essex County Clerk’s election website says that 272,395 votes have been cast in the county. They did not break out the numbers by municipality.

South Orange Village President Sheena Collum did report on her Facebook page today the following:

Here are some numbers as of 3:30 p.m.

Districts 1 & 12: Seton Hall University (Student Center) – 400 South Orange Avenue: +/- 65 provisionals and 30 drop offs.

Districts 2 & 10: Marshall School (Gym) – 262 Grove Road: +/- 48 provisionals and about 50 drop offs.

Districts 3,6,7,8 & 13: South Orange Middle School (Gym) – 70 N. Ridgewood Road: +/- 127 provisionals and 50 drop offs.

Districts 4, 9, & 11: First Presbyterian & Trinity Church – 111 Irvington Avenue: +/- 120 provisionals and 30 drop offs.

South Orange 8,147 votes cast

93% of votes in 2016
