Presley was hired as the new supervisor of special services at an annual salary of $105,000, while Jenkins will become the acting supervisor for special education for $118,000 yearly.

Bridgewater-Raritan Superintendent of Schools Russell Lazovick was the first to offer his congratulations following the board’s approval, followed by Silvia.

“We’re very happy to have them both join our team,” said Silvia of Jenkins and Presley.

Silvia himself is slated to become assistant superintendent for special services in January.

He added that the district is trying to build a team of new administrators, and that he is excited to work with the new team, which has a background in child studies. Some individuals are already experienced in supervision, while others are new to the position.

Jenkins hold a bachelors degree from Rutgers University, and a masters degree from Columbia University. She served as a school social worker in the Union Township school system from 2007 to 2017, before she was named Supervisor of Special Services.

She also serves as an adjunct professor at Essex County College in Newark.

Presley, a graduate of the University of Iowa, also holds masters degrees in teaching and educational leadership, and is experiencing a homecoming with his new position. He previously served as a teacher and as supervisor of special services in Bridgewater from 2013 to 2015.

He then served as a supervisor in the South Hunterdon Regional School District from 2015 to 2018, and was most recently appointed as the director of special services for the Flemington-Raritan School District.

“(They are) candidates who are ready to take on the challenge,” said Silvia, who also said he appreciated the board’s hiring of the new duo.
