Coronavirus in New Jersey: What concerts, festivals and shows have been rescheduled, canceled. (April 9, 2020) – NJ.com
There may be no place to go, but there certainly are many places to visit — online, that is — as stay-at-home entertainment choices continue to populate the internet.
Museums and art galleries throughout the state, for example, are mounting online exhibits while their doors remained locked.
Among recent exhibit “openings,” the Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton has created interactive tours of its three current scheduled exhibitions. “Explorations in Felt,” a group show in collaboration with the Fiber Art Network and Fiber Art Now magazine showcasing 29 works by 25 artists from around the world; “Yael Eisner: Member Highlight,” a collection of photographs by the Israeli-born artist; and the museum’s annual Young Artist Showcase, this year spotlighting works by students at Franklin Township, Immaculate Conception and Lebanon Borough schools. The exhibits were slated to run through April 19.
The museum has also shifted more than 15 spring classes and workshops for children and adults to live online sessions. For more information, visit hunterdonartmuseum.org.
The Monmouth Museum in Lincroft has countered the COVID-19 closed door policy by mounting its first-ever virtual exhibit, an “Emerging Artists” alumni retrospective titled “R’Emerged.” Unveiled via a Zoom reception on April 3, the group show will remain online through June 3.
The exhibit features 31 artists who took part in the museum’s Emerging Artists program over the past 13 years.
Conversations with exhibiting artists and videos will be shared on the museum’s social media accounts and YouTube page throughout the exhibit. The art on display also is available to purchase online.
For information, visit monmouthmuseum.org.
