Coronavirus in N.J.: What’s reopened, what concerts, festivals and shows are rescheduled, canceled. (Dec. 16, – NJ.com

The Ridgewood-based First Flight Theatre Company was created in November 2019 but has yet to take off, grounded by the coronavirus.

The not-for-profit troupe — “devoted to presenting the plays of 20th century American playwright Maxwell Anderson” and other playwrights who “instill poetry in their writing” —has had a couple of test-flight readings and workshop productions over the past year, but still awaits the day it can mount its first full-fledged work.

In the meantime, it’s offering a virtual holiday gift: an online performance of “Dickens by Candlelight: A Christmas Carol” to benefit The Hermitage museum in Ho-Ho-Kus. The production of Robin Proett Olson’s adaptation of the Charles Dickens Christmas novella will debut 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, with repeat streamings 2 and 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec. 24.

The play, which will include audience interaction, will be read virtually by actors Frank Farrell, Karen Eterovich, Maria Portman Kelly and Richard Width, each taking on various roles. It will be directed by Width and stage managed by Abby Farber.

A minimum $20 donation suggested for each device streaming the reading and can be made through showtix4u.com. For information, call 773-307-4586, email firstflight2018@gmail.com, visit firstflighttheatreco.com.
